Have you read the story of Ehud and Eglon in Judges 3? It’s a fantastic tale of how God delivers the Israelites from the hugely fat king Eglon of the Moabites.
It’s like a James Bond scene, Ehud the Judge of Israel steals into the kings chamber on the pretext of having a message for just the kings ears and when everyone leaves he stabs the fat king in the guts and as the bible puts it the sword was swallowed up by the kings fat tummy and the kings ‘dung’ came out. His attendants think that he is on the netty and don’t go in and Ehud makes is escape.
This is a fabulous story for young lads in kid’s church but I bet it is not mentioned very often; however another blogger on the New frontiers Bloggers site has written a fantastic song about it. I played it to our kids and we had renditions of it for the next 2 weeks. Especially the “Stabbed him in the belly and his poo came out” chorus line.
Listen to it here – http://www.box.net/shared/hhp4qdpnul
And notes on the song such as chords and lyrics can be found at http://youngglory.blogspot.com/2009/07/new-song-eglon-song.html
Have fun
“Squishy Squashy don’t forget to washy …..”

Hey Mr Drum (or may I call you Beatthe?) thanks so much for linking to this song I wrote. I appreciate your ‘names removed to protect the guilty’ approach but I don’t mind owning up. You’re right about kids appeal, my kids did hound me to finish it so I could play it to the children’s worker at church (who looked at me like I’d LOST MY MIND). To date we have yet to sing it at church.
Exciting stuff about Canada, all the best with that.
