When I was growing up the music my friends and I played the most was English punk by bands like The Sex Pistols, Sham 69, The Jam, Still Little Fingers and The Clash, through most of my Christian life I have tried desperately hard to find a worship cd that encapsulates the raw energy of punk / new wave with the passion of sold out for Jesus worship. This is probably the first CD that has managed to hit the highs on both sides of the equation.

The Parachute Band brings a blend of raw basic passionate songs about and for Jesus that tick every box. There are no naff songs on this CD and you could easily worship to any of them in a congregational setting providing you music team were up to the task and the volume cranked up, this isn’t music to be quiet to.

The CD starts with a shouted 2-3-4 and some raucous guitars followed by thumping drums and edgy bass.  The lead vocals sounding like a young Paul Weller starts to proclaim the name of Jesus and we are off….

The lyrics on this CD are amazing showing everything from pure joy in Jesus to asking to be filled right up to adoration of Father and Jesus.

Thine is the kingdom – The Lords Pray sung with such passion and love that it has become a firm favourite with me to sing through in pray …..  Magnificent

Fill Me (Based on Psalm 119) – A song of longing to be filled by the Spirit so we can overcome
